My topic is about the differneces between upper class and Lower class in 19th centry. I chose this topic is because my novel Little Women is talking about a poor family os far, but their nighbor, Laurie's family is very rich. But the relationship between them is pretty close. Sometimes Jo and her family will go to Laurie's home, and they can bring happiness to Laurie, even they are really poor. So I want to learn the differences between these two kinds of families, how they live differently, how the dress differently, etc.
This is one of the informations that I found, maybe will be helpful.http://www.britannica.com.ez.sccd.ctc.edu:2048/bps/additionalcontent/17/12924/The-Class-War

Week 6 ---- Four True Ghost Stories for Halloween
http://factoidz.com/four-true-ghost-stories-for-halloween/
by N/A, Staff Writer
A. Summary:
There are four short ghost stories that author has heard of. The first one is the haunted house monument in Los Angeles. This place used to be a wealthy family, but one of the family members was murdered. There were more death after that, as result, it was closed to public, except for movie filming or some special events. There are lots of strange voice always be heard during night, such as footsteps, door slamming and screaming.
The second story is the hunted brown palace hotel in Denver. This is a famous landmark and one of the most beautiful historic buildings. a famous musician and a TV star went there but left during the night, because he heard and saw a woman floating down the hallway and babies crying.
The next story is the security guard's video monitor. this is happened in downtown, Los Angeles. a security guard of a historic loft heard some noice from gym, such as footsteps on the treadmill and he saw the equiment was running. He left right away, but he didn't understand why the ghosts need to exercise.
The last stoy is another story about a mansion in a Los Angeles suburb owned by a distant family relation. los of people heard noice from the big house, such as the pictures falling down from the wall, doors opening and closing, and the piano playing by itself. The author went there didn't see any ghosts but he(she) felt extreme cold.
B. Opinion:
These stories are strange and a little bit scary if you read it during the night. But I'm not the person who believes in ghosts. Maybe sometimes we need to believe a part of it, because science could explain it right now. I like to watch scary movies and I have been told some scary stories too, there is one that really scaried me. My little cousin has a doll that she really likes and holds it every night. Once the went to a store and she carried the doll with her, when the went back home, they found out the doll was not with her, might be left somewhere. They started to look for it, they went back the store and checked in car and house, because my little cousin needed it at night. They didn't find it at the end, and her father got a similar one to her. A few months later, people almost forgot about this. But one day morning, her father was going to work, he opened the door of the car, he saw the lost doll was right beside the kid's seat! It was really scary!!
C. Vocabulary:
Estate: a piece of landed property, esp. one of large extent with an elaborate house on it: to have an estate in the country.
Ex: My estate lies within a mile.
In retrospect: in retrospect, in looking back on past events; upon reflection.
Ex: In retrospect it was a nightmare.
Decade: a period of ten years.
Ex: He expects it to take a decade or more to overcome the shortage.

Week 6 - Jo for Little Women
If I were Jo, I think she would write about the relationships with Laurie and her sisters.
They have a really good relationship now, she brings lot of happiness to him, and she feels he is a good boy and needs her happiness. Therefore, I think Jo would write about him in the dairy, because he becomes more important to her.
Laurie is her neighbor, he is a boy that same age with Jo. Laurie's house is next to Jo's house, he is living with his grandfather because both of Laurie's parents dead, and they are really rich. Jo and Laurie met in a dance at the first time, both of them hid behind the curtain because they didn't want to dance. They talked a lot behind the curtain. Laurie is very gentlemanly boy, and he is a little bit like Jo.
After this , their relationship becomes closer than before. Laurie was sick, and Jo felt he was very lonely that needed someone to stay with him, so she went to his house, brought the happiness to him. They talked together and Jo helped him clean his room. Laurie hoped she could come to his house again, because he was happy when she was there.

Week #5: The Bullying of Seth Walsh: Requiem for a Small-Town Boy
Summary:
There was a 13-year-old boy named Seth Walsh who is form a small town. He is a really nice boy that his siblings say he is the best old brother in this galaxy. But he killed himself, because he is a gay, and all of people besides his family bullied him, they never be nice to Seth Walsh just because he is a gay boy. Seth's organs were donated after his death.
Opinion:
I think people shouldn't bully gay people. Everyone is different, nobody have rights that can interfere the different ways that different people live with. The only difference between normal people and gay people is that the difference of sexual preference. Different sexual preference is not a crime, people should be respectful to everyone.
Vocabulary:
tease: to irritate or provoke with persistent petty distractions, trifling raillery, or other annoyance, often in sport.
Ex: Elders can not tease sisters.

Author: Louisa May Alcott.
I already read two chapters in this book, my favourite character for now is a girl called Jo.
There are four girls and their kind mother in this family, their father is a solider, he is in the war now. Jo is the second daughter in their family, she is 15 years old. She is very tall, thin and brown. She is a townboy, she always let people think of a little colt. I choose her because she is the most interesting and different girl in this family, and she said that she is the only man in this family when their father is not here.
Because her father is not at home, she realized that she should to do more things for this famliy, to help her mother and take care of her little sisters. I admire her because she is only 15 years old, she is so young but she understands a lot, she does things like a big sister and leader in this family. I feel I can understand her feeling because sometimes I feel I am old enough and I think I am stronger than my mother. Sometimes my trait will like a boy, I am a brave and strong person in many people's eyes, just like Jo. Up to now, I think Jo is a good girl, there is no much things should be change, and I agree with what she has done with right now.

Week #3: Look Officer, No Hands: Google Car Drives Itself
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/10/science/10google.html
By John Markoff
The New York Times
Published on 9 October, 2010
A. Summary There is a car that can drive itself, that is a program in Google Company. The car is using artificial- intelligence softward that can sense anything near the car and mimic the decisions made by human driver. There are seven test cars have driven 1,000 miles without human intervention and more than 140,000 miles with only a little bit human control. The engineer said the only accident was when one Google car was rear-ended while stopped at a traffic light.
The engineer said that the car is safety because robot's reaction is faster than human, and it won't be sleepy or drunk. It can avoid the accidents, because there were lots of accident in America, in 2008, there were 37,000 people died because of car accidents.
The robot has the GPS in it, so it knows the road, and it has the light and voice to remind people to pay attention, such as it will say "turn ahead" before this happen.
Besides the 15 engineers who is working on the current project, Google hired more people who is with a spotless driving record, to sit in the driver’s seat, paying $15 an hour or more. Google is using six Priuses and an Audi TT in this project.
B. Opinion When I was a little child, I was thinking about if there is a car could drive itself without human control, how cool if that happen. That just was a dream in that time period, but time, the dream becomes a truth. There is a kind of car, doesn't need human control. But I'm not really want to try it right now, because this kind of car just came out, there might be some little problem. Maybe several years later, this kind of car would be pretty common in human's life.
C. Vocabulary
curious: eager to learn or know; inquisitive.
Ex: I am curious about new things, and often wish I could learn more .
glimpse: to look briefly; glance.
Ex: He glimpsed her as the beautiful girl went by.
vehicle: any means in or by which someone travels or something is carried or conveyed; a means of conveyance or transport.
Ex: Customers should not assume these bulletins apply to their vehicle or that their vehicle will develop the described concern.

My Novel---- Little Women
I chose the novel named Little Women, written by Louisa May Alcott. It's such a long book, but seems interesting.
At the beginning of this book, there are four girls are talking. We can tell it is winter in this book, because they are talking about Christmas gifts, they seem not really happy at the beginning, because one if the girls says " Christmas won't be Christmas without any presents". They don't have a lot of money, they are not a rich family.
The environment is quite, should be their home, and they are sitting together and talking. Although it is winter, it's sunny out side. They are pretty good and lovely girls, because they say that they don't have money but they have parents that love them, and they have each other, which is way better than some rich family. And they decide buy some Christmas gifts for their mother but not themselves, they want to give their mother a surprise.
Their father is a solider, and he is in the war right now, these girls are really pround of their father. When their mother came back with the letter from their father, they are really happy, and promise to be a good girl, because they are kids from their hero father, they want their father be proud of them.
The beginning of the book make people feel so comfortable, and make people be touched by those girls. I really want to know what going to happen in the future, anyway, it's such a good book!
